Homeowner advocacy built from real construction experience.
When you hire BuildAdvocate Consulting, we work for the homeowner. Our role is to help you understand the project, ask better questions, protect your budget, and make informed decisions before construction problems get expensive.
Nathan Spencer founded BuildAdvocate after more than 20 years inside the construction industry.
Hartel Homes. Accredited Pools. Project management. Permits. Defects. Homeowner advocacy.
Before BuildAdvocate, Nathan ran and managed construction and pool companies in Austin, including Hartel Homes and Accredited Pools. That work included custom residential projects, swimming pools, remodeling, commercial experience, project management, inspection-stage realities, scheduling, construction defects, contractor communication, and the day-to-day realities that homeowners rarely get to see clearly.
BuildAdvocate Consulting exists because homeowners deserve someone on their side who understands how construction actually works. We do not sell construction work through the standard consulting model. We help homeowners evaluate options, understand risks, communicate with builders, prepare for permitting and city-record questions, and make better decisions from planning through closeout.
What homeowner advocacy means.
Permits and planning
We help homeowners understand permit status, city requirements, expired permits, inspection-stage questions, scope planning, and what questions to ask before work starts.
Builder and contractor progress review
We review bids, contracts, draw schedules, progress, workmanship concerns, change orders, and communication issues so homeowners can respond with confidence.
Defects and second opinions
We help homeowners think through construction defects, ASR pool issues, repair options, documentation, next steps, and when a deeper expert review may be needed.
The consulting promise is simple.
When you hire BuildAdvocate Consulting, we work for the homeowner.
That means our advice is focused on your project, your budget, your risk, and your decision. We are not there to push a contractor, sell you a build, or make the process more confusing. We are there to help you understand what is happening and what to do next.
A note on privacy and separate services.
Homeowner consulting conversations, documents, photos, addresses, project facts, and uploaded materials are private. They are not sold, repackaged, or used for any separate data product or contractor-facing service. Learn how the privacy process works.
